Missouri. The Union 7th Iowa Infantry encountered Confederate cavalry at Elliott’s Mill and reported three casualties.

Missouri. Unionist Jayhawkers from Kansas led by James Henry Lane burned the town of Osceola.
North Carolina. USS Gemsbok captured the schooner Mary E Pindar off Federal Point, attempting to run the blockade with a cargo of lime.
Tennessee. Confederate General Albert Sidney Johnston called upon the states of Arkansas and Mississippi to raise 10,000 men each for service in the defence of Tennessee.
