Maryland. A skirmish at Seneca Mills resulted in three Confederates killed.
Missouri. Leaving behind 300 troops to protect the state capital at Jefferson City, Union Brigadier-General Nathaniel Lyon resumed his pursuit of the Missouri State Guard, transporting his men by river. Informed of Lyon’s approach at Boonville, pro-Confederate Governor Claiborne Fox Jackson summoned State Brigadier-General Mosby Munroe Parsons’ command from Tipton, but Parsons’ troops would not arrive in time for the fighting the following day.
