Florida. Florida’s Senators and Representatives withdrew from the US Congress.

Georgia. Georgia’s Senators and Representatives withdrew from the US Congress.

Mississippi. Mississippi’s Senators, among them future Confederate President Jefferson Finis Davis, resigned from the US Senate.

Texas. The Texas state legislature met to discuss matters relating to secession.
