Yazoo Pass Expedition
Virginia Southside and North Carolina Operations
Atlantic Ocean. CSS Florida, Lieutenant John Newland Maffitt, captured and burned the ship Star of Peace bound from Calcutta to Boston with a cargo of saltpetre and hides.
Arkansas. Union expedition from Helena to Big Creek and Lick Creek began.
Arkansas. Skirmish on the White River.
Florida. Union Major-General David Hunter transported troops up the St John’s River under escort by USS Norwich and USS Uncas. The soldiers landed and re-occupied Jacksonville, where there were brief clashes with local Confederate forces.
Mississippi. The Union Yazoo Pass expedition travelled twelve miles down the Tallahatchie but the USS Petrel had to be left behind for repairs after its wheel was damaged by hidden obstacles.
North Carolina. Union expedition from New Bern to Swan Quarter ended.
North Carolina. Union Expedition to New Bern, Pollocksville, Swansboro, Trenton, and Young’s Cross Roads began.

Tennessee. Expedition to Chapel Hill ended.
