South Carolina. CSS Lady Davis. Lieutenant Thomas P Pelot, captured the American ship A B Thompson off Charleston.

Sewell’s Point, Virginia. The Union warships USS Monticello (Captain Henry Eagle) and USS Thomas Freeborn resumed their ineffective efforts to bombard Confederate fortifications at Sewell’s Point. By 5 pm, the Confederates had managed to install three 32-pound guns at the Sewell’s Point battery. When USS Monticello opened fire on the works at about 5:30 pm, the battery returned fire and drove off the gunboat. Captain Peyton H Colquitt of the Columbus Light Guard from Georgia commanded the Confederate battery. (CWSAC Limited Battle- Inconclusive).
