Texas Seceded

Texas. The Texas state convention at Austin passed an Ordinance of Secession by a vote of 166 to 7 . The Texas government announced a referendum of the people to be held on 23 February 1861, with secession to take effect on 2 March 1861. Texas was the seventh state to secede from the Union.
