CSA. The Montgomery Convention, acting as the provisional Confederate States’ Congress, passed a resolution to take possession of Fort Sumter in South Carolina and Fort Pickens in Florida by “whatever means necessary.” A resolution was passed to send Commissioners to negotiate with the US government for the surrender of US property in all Confederate states.

District of Columbia. The Peace Convention approached its conclusion without reaching any effectual proposals to avert the secession crisis..
